Dear Friends and Supporters,
Thanks to the voters who went to the polls and elected me. Thanks to Campaign Co-chairs John Bassett, Marcia Heist and Donna Kalikow and to everyone who helped in my campaign for Selectman. Some of you wrote dear friend cards, some wrote letters, some made many, many phone calls, some made introductions, some carried signs, some planted signs, some stood long hours in the cold at the polls, some organized food, and some contributed money to help pay for the campaign. A very special thanks to the extraordinary people who did everything!
When I took my first political step in 1960, campaigning for Senator John F. Kennedy in a mock primary election in my east Texas high school, I did not consider myself a politician. Although I know that running for public office is a political act, I still dont feel like a politician. My commitment is to community, public service and good government.
By happy coincidence, I have spent most of my professional and volunteer life working in and for Brookline. I am grateful and proud to have been elected Selectman. I will do my best to carry out the office and responsibility fairly.
I want to hear from Brookline residents. I intend to hold office hours on a regular basis. I will put the times and access information on my website and publish them in the TAB.
Thank you all.
Betsy DeWitt
